prbXXXX.tmp files are related to data scan component. Issue reported to responsible devs.

the fix will be released in  19.2 version which will come soon. (It is already available in beta)

Have not had any *.tmp-shm files since 11th January - not sure what has changed (last prog update was on 3rd January).

Well, i have same problem too, prbxxx.tmp files keep appearing after i restart my laptop.
every restart always around 800mb to 1 GB space taken in Appdata/Local/Temp folder

i have to take kaspersky as replacement now, use avast from 2010, this problem make my hardisk full.
hope this problem will be clear.

if you still have the same problem please provide us procmon log for analysis.
In comments above you will find step by step description how to create the log and send it to avast ftp server.

Hi Kwiq

Can we be clear please whether there was a program update (Bob3160 suggests it could have been by VPS) or whether the fix is waiting for version 19.2? Certainly the prbxxxx.tmp files are still appearing here, without any pattern of time or activity that I can see. So: did my system miss a program update (possible as I don't reboot very often)? Or is there no fix for 19.1?

The app* files have been handled via VPS, but prb* files require a program update.
A fix will be included in 19.2, there's no update for 19.1.

Dont have time to do that pal. need extra time to do that and prbxxx.tmp files created after 1 or 2 days not appear right away after installed.
Clean install avast, download from the web, created new user account, refresh windows, reinstall windows.
man, enough about that. 9 years i used avast, never once i experience this problem.
