Hi there,

I'm running Avast Free Antivirus.  I regularly visit websites on a certain domain and today it was flagged for phishing.  I then excepted the website in the Avast settings.  Although it stopped blocking the website, I then got a popup message saying "This site could have harmed your computer."  There is no way to close this pop up and access the site.  Then, I tried the same process with the shields off.  I got the same popup message with no option to close it.  Shouldn't I be able to visit a "harmful" site if I want to?  Why is Avast blocking my access when the shields are off...?

Thanks!

If your block looks like the one below, it's not Avast blocking you.

Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc., all show similar windows when a known phishing site is detected.

Name of phishing site please?

And why must you go there when protection devices are there to protect you from harm?

Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797
 UI version 1.0.788.  Windows 11 Home 23H2 - Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.2.6105 (build 24.1.8918.827) UI version 1.0.801

The site is openload.pw.  It is a site where I upload and store files.  Shouldn't I be "allowed" to store files where I choose?  Why is Avast continuing to block sites when I turn off the shields?  It's my system, if I'd like to take a calculated risk, shouldn't that be my choice?  Besides, this forum is riddled with evidence of false positives from Avast, so who's to say it really is a phishing site?

In any event, as you can see from the screenshot below, it is clearly a message from Avast, after I added the site to the exceptions AND turned the shields off.

Well, what you show is Avast Online Security.  AOS is not a part of the antivirus program.  It works together with Avast but you can run it with any other antivirus; Avast is not required.

Seems detection is valid, see below:
https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/openload.pw
http://urlquery.net/report/1794043e-314f-44d6-8f17-8ffdca635921
https://quttera.com/detailed_report/openload.pw

We're here to help, sometimes a website is potentially dangerous to visit, as here.

I'd notify the website administrator of your issues, maybe they can fix and clean up.  Wait for them to fix before entering, I'd say.

Quttera website is pointing to a .js file that could be bad.
