JAVA - Software Updater
« on: January 20, 2019, 12:06:48 AM »
Updater has given me a update alert that Java is out date and needs updating. Followed prompts, uninstalled old version but new version didn't install, does this mean that Java is no longer needed in Win 10 or did the updater stuff up?

For some considerable time now it has been recommended not to use JAVA (not JavaScript) as it is targeted (finding vulnerabilities) by malware.

If you haven't got a specific program or site that uses JAVA (not JavaScript), that you can't do without  you are better off uninstalling JAVA.  I removed JAVA from all of my systems some considerable time ago.

I don't know if win10 specifically blocks it, but I can't see it being a required program for win10.  But on my win10 laptop it certainly isn't installed.  It isn't so much a requirement of the OS, more a requirement of a program or site that requires it.
