FINALLY  8) 8) 8)

The command I've gave was:

./configure --prefix=/usr --with-dazuko=/home/tech/Download/avast/dazuko-2.2.2
and then the post installation commands...

/home/tech/Download/avast/avast4guard-2.0.1b2# make
/home/tech/Download/avast/avast4guard-2.0.1b2# make install
/home/tech/Download/avast/avast4guard-2.0.1b2# chown root:root /var/run/avastguard
/home/tech/Download/avast/avast4guard-2.0.1b2# chmod 0700 /var/run/avastguard
/home/tech/Download/avast/avast4guard-2.0.1b2# chown root:root /var/lib/avastguard/quarantine
/home/tech/Download/avast/avast4guard-2.0.1b2# chmod 0700 /var/lib/avastguard/quarantine

I have service avastguard and set it to run at startup...
I don't have the service avastd  ???

I'll try next boot on Linux... can't wait for it  :D
I've translated some 'strings' of the server (if not all) from English to Portuguese. Are the Portuguese version available or only in English?

Where do I save this file?
Is there any fron-end (GUI) interface for avast for server? I mean, even to edit the configurations?

Edit: found the answer /var/lib/avast4/
By the way, the configuration file is: /etc/avastengine.conf - avast! engine configuration file
Is there any other configuration besides the few ones there?
Code: [Select]
[Registry]
Avast4DataDir=/var/lib/avast4
Avast4TempDir=/var/tmp/avast4
Avast4LogDir=/var/log/avast4
Avast4LicenseFile=/var/lib/avast4/License.dat

Realy, the Windows version is more exciting  ;D

/etc/avastd.conf
Thanks.
I can't update, even using root:

Code: [Select]
root@Delta:/home/tech# /usr/bin/avastvpsupdate.pl
Can't access host: files.avast.com

It's not a problem with the perl module. Everything is installed and running...

Can you help me on this (from /avast4guard-2.0.1b2/INSTALL file):

1. avastd starts on bootup before avastguard and
2. the avast! antivirus engine (libavastengine) is looking for a fresh virus database.

ad 1) this should work, but I'm not familiar with SuSE Linux, so first look at chkconfig manual page
  chkconfig avastd
  chkconfig avastguard
ad 2) enable avastvpsupdate.pl script to be periodically run by crontab

I've left SuSE... I'm with Kubuntu right now...

chkconfig avastd
chkconfig avastguard

ad 2) enable avastvpsupdate.pl script to be periodically run by crontab
I'll try these three steps next boot  8)

chkconfig = command not found  :'(
Tried:
$ sudo apt-get install sysv-rc-conf

But even strange, it starts to install avast4server  ???
Code: [Select]
Instalando avast4server (2.0.0-2) ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/avast4server.postinst: line 2: /sbin/chkconfig: File or folder not found
dpkg: error processing avast4server (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script retorned exit error code 127
Errors found during processing of: avast4server

Executing sysv-rc-cong I get a table where I could edit...
But I don't understand the levels 1 2 3 4 5 0 6 S
Both avastd and avastguard are set to level 2 only

Code: [Select]
       --level levels
           The runlevels this operation will affect. levels can be any number from 0-9 or S. For example, --level 135 will affect run‐
           levels 1, 3, and 5.  If --level is not set, the default is to affect runlevels 2, 3, 4, and 5.  This option is only used for
           the command line interface, see the section below labled USING THE CLI for more information.

I have this on crontab. Is it Ok?

Other things that I've found... even strange for me...
Dublin you must have patience...  ;D

The avastguard never starts... the window stays there, opened, not a message...
I've change both avastd and avastguard to run at startup but avastguard is NOT running and never starts...

If it helps...
I have the folder /var/run/avastguard/
But I don't have the file guardscanner.sock

I've created the section [guard] as below...

Once the avast4guard package is installed, you'll also need avast! antivirus daemon 'avastd' running in the background and scanning
files for avastguard. To configure it for avastguard, please create a new avastd scanner section in /etc/avastd.conf configuration file designed for on-access scanner (see avastd.conf(5) manual page):

[guard]
    listen = /var/run/avastguard/guardscanner.sock
    user = root
    ;rootdir =
    subdirs = false
    archivetype = A

Sequence of command I've run (again) and not error messages (appae:

su
<password>

./configure --prefix=/usr --with-dazuko=/home/tech/Download/avast/dazuko-2.2.2
make
make install
chown root:root /var/run/avastguard
chmod 0700 /var/run/avastguard
chown root:root /var/lib/avastguard/quarantine
chmod 0700 /var/lib/avastguard/quarantine

(edit the configuration file)
kdesu kate /etc/avastd.conf
(added the following lines)
[guard]
    listen = /var/run/avastguard/guardscanner.sock
    user = root
    ;rootdir =
    subdirs = false
    archivetype = A

Then execute:
avastd
avastguard

avastguard is running   ::) ???

The user level seems Multiuser Mode 2 now...  ::) ???
I'm trying to find how to start avastd before avastguard... that seems to be the problem...
