why do you think chrome is a virus???
« on: January 24, 2019, 03:12:05 PM »
I'm growing tired of avast. Emails not working until I disable email shield. False positives for viruses. And now...chrome won't work until I disable web shield. What gives? Why is this happening? Do you know of the browser known as chrome? Why does this need a security check that will "take about 15 seconds" but...does not respond until I disable web shield? Should I disable all shields for my computer to function correctly? Perhaps I should go to Norton and have 20% functionality of my PC, that is probably better, at least the antivirus works, and does not stop normal functions from working.

answer please

Also...don't make a "contact us" link if you are just going to palm ppl off to your FAQ and forum. Circular links just piss ppl off

Hi mrdoppelina,
I have not enough information to help you but may I ask you to try few steps :

1) disable avast self defence
2) rename "c:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswJsFlt.dll"  to "c:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswJsFlt.dll.org"
3) Start new chrome process

Let me know if it helped.
Thank you for report !

By renaming the xxx.dll to xxx.dll.org you are obscuring the old .dll but not deleting it.
