This is the 2nd time my computer crashes when i download avast products. I have premium clean-up, VPN, online security....Had them installed a year ago, they were working well. When I bought “driver update” and installed it, my computer crashed. It cost me $200 to fix.
I tried to return all products, avast only refunded me for the latest (less than 30 days). That was 3 or 4 months back. I wasn’t happy and didn’t re-download any avast products on my computer.
Last week I decided to reinstall all products and my computer crashed again so I'm done with avast. No more!
ALSO NOTE THAT YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT TEAM SUCK – THEY ARE BOTH SUCH A WASTE OF TIME – I SPENT HOURS WITH THEM OVER THE PHONE, THEY COULDN’T TELL WHAT'S THE ISSUE. AVAST IS AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AND YOU GUYS DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS – ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS MAKING MONEY – SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news everyone!

I have the new version on a Windows 10 64 bit machine.  I can open the interface, go to the protection section but the only scan I can run is the Smartscan.  I can configure a custom scan but not save it or ececute the scan. What is the trick to executing a scan other than the Smartscan?

Thanks for the response.  I had tried that before and just to be sure just took those steps again.  Nothing changed.  Each screen for setting up or selecting scans looks appropriate but I do not see anything to click or check to actually execute a scan.  For instance when creating a custom scan I can select any of the options involved but the scan is not saved or if I set a specific date and time the scan does not run, nor is the named custom scan saved for future use.

I am not happy with the new changes that were supposed to be minor bug fixes.  I can't schedule full scan every other day like I was able to before.  I can't go to full scan without setting up a custom scan every time.  I went to Avast from other anti-virus that didn't work for me after an update.  I can do it again.  Put Avast back to the way it was.

I've had the same problem.  I've resolved going to Uninstall programs and insted of choosing Uninstall, I've chosen Repair.
Hope it works for you.

The other option is to get used to the new settings. You do that for your Operating System and many other things.
You can currently select the Custom Scan which by default starts with the same settings as the Full Virus Scan.
The Custom Scan can be scheduled just as you want.

The attached screen shot is what I see when I click on protection.

After the current Windows 10 v.1809 monthly update,
the behavior shield in Avast did not start.
It was only because the Defender Icon showed a problem with my AV,
that I was aware of the problem.
There was no indication in the Avast system tray icon of the shield not running.
This should be checked.

I took note, and am unable to confirm on my envy W10 with Premier on bc (just updated)
No issue with BS on this OS and Avast installation Bob.
Possibly just a glitch from something :-\

My other W10 is updating the same as I write. See if the Windows Update affects the Avast Installation on that OS> :)

Edit: Windows update completed/rebooted and checked. No issue with the BS on either W10 OS

A glitch is always possible. I've done another restart and didn't have the problem again.

@ -Midnight, what problems ??? I had a glitch which resolved itself. :)

I am not sure what the problem was but I reset my SETTINGS in the AVAST UI and now I get the scan options I have been.

Can't run Full Scan.  If I choose "Protection" then "Virus Scans" I can only choose "RUN SMART SCAN" or create a Custom Scan.
