Hi Chris
which vpn are you using?
As I said : PIA (Private Internet Access)

Quote
everything worked perfectly up until 19.2.2364
i went to run a full scan and it flagged an update was available. i ran the update and it advised to reboot as usual. as soon as it rebooted and my vpn auto connected  within a split second of it connecting it blue screened but only one time. now i have had 24 black screens of death but the dump report is showing it as blue screen dump reports.
Me too , no problem a week ago , but what I mean by "this is not necessarily due to the 19.2.2.2364 update" is because the issue remains even if I now return to version 19.1.2360.
I didn't try with version 18.... before the big interface changes (old settings, egg for geek)

sorry. never heard of PIA
another link was posted for me to try on another thread.
clean uninstalled in safe mode. installed the older build and turned off auto updates but as soon as i load my licence key and it asks for a reboot it loads premier again with the latest version so im screwed.
will just have to wait for the devs to see if they can suggest anything else to try.

Have you tried to disable the Avast Firewall to see if that clears the problem ???
I use the free version of Avast and have no problem using Private Tunnel or SecureLine which are both using openVPN.

There is a difference between disabling and deleting. :) As I said, the free version doesn't contain the firewall and has no problems.
This doesn't mean that Avast doesn't need to fix the problem.

Like I said #28 , simply disabling the firewall by the IU does not solve the problem.
On the other hand , Uninstall the FW component by adding/removing program does the job , I can use my VPN without BSOD
in the meantime I have activated the windows firewall ... always OK

I don't think MrDJ and I said otherwise
Sorry bob , I had misread what Dr. DJ said

I've passed this information on to the developers which should help to narrow down the problem.
Thanks. :)

ok
so ive done the same as Chris.
clean remove avast premier in safe mode for the 6th time in 2 days.
loaded 19.1.2360 free
windows firewall on
started vpn and loads and runs perfectly as before with no crashes.
avast is now asking to update to latest 19.2.2364

i will now update to this as if what has been said and it is a firewall issue it should not conflict as im now using the free version and not premier.

EDIT:
updated to 19.2.2364 on avast free and no complications. nord vpn now loaded and running.

As I stated, this information has already been passed onto the developers. It's also Sunday today. :)

It's not exactly what I've done .
I did not install the free version, but simply uninstalled the firewall shield on AIS.
It's true that now for AIS, there's not much difference between it and free version anymore, but you could have kept Avast premier with what you don't have with free :
- Sandbox
- Passive mode
- Real site (I have uninstalled too)
- Ransonware
- Firewall
- Antispam
- Webcam shield (premium)
- Automatic Software updater (premium)
- Data shredder (premium)

@ chris,
you used a hammer to solve the problem, MrDJ used a sledgehammer.
You're correct, the problem appears to be with the Firewall so that's the only thing that needed to be removed.

Hammer is not enough to stop fire , it is better to use a bucket of water for this purpose  ;D

quick update.
i did not know i could just delete the firewall.
i have now worked that out and loaded my license back to premium but deleted the firewall in troubleshooting.
