Can't uninstall Avast Browser from Windows
« on: February 09, 2019, 05:43:35 PM »
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've almost lost my patience with this.

I have a Windows 10 computer that has Avast Browser and I just can't find a way to uninstall it. I've tried everything that Support recommends.

When I try to uninstall it from the Control Panel, I don't get the option to 'Change' the software, only uninstall it. When I click this the cursor shows that it is loading for a few seconds, but then returns to an arrow and nothing happens.

I also downloaded the Removal Tool, but it won't uninstall the browser. It goes to load, but then stops (even when running as an administrator).

I need to free up some space on this computer and the browser is quite a large file, so the sooner I can get rid of it the better. But I just don't know how. Any ideas what's going on?

Did you use the "Secure Browser Removal Tool" list in the post above?

Problems with Avast Secure browser should not affect proper operation of your other browsers?

Why are you unable to open your other browsers?  Did they fail to open all at roughly the same time?  Is your computer busy or frozen?

Ease of removal of Avast Secure browser would depend on whether you installed it as a standalone browser or if it was included inside Avast as a feature.  Which way did you install?
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797

I've tried to uninstall Avast Secure Browser with no success. I tried the special tool provided by Avast, algo tried uninstalling with programs and features (using Win10 32bit). Avast Secure Browser was intalled after latest Avast update (current version installed: 19.4.2374). How can I uninstall Avast Secure Browser?

I downloaded and ran the browser uninstaller.  It Appears to have worked.  I'll post if that did not solve the issue.  FYI: Here is the issue I was having that I blamed on the browser.

Avast Internet Security Problems

Version 19.4.2374 installed 10Apr19 as a replacement for another Avast version that had

expired.  Avast Secure Browser apparently was installed 17Apr19 according to my Control

Panel list of installed programs.

Running Windows 7 Professional with SP1.

I am trying to to do a database repair on a game that is on my PC, totally off line, not

connected to the internet.  It is running dreadfully slow and Avast has one AvastUI.exe

and keeps adding lines of the AvastBrowser.exe *32 file to my Task Manager (TM).  I have

turned off all Avast shields in Avast and it is still adding these lines.  They come and

go and I'll have from 4 to 10 lines of this at a time that appear to be running and using

memory.  When they appear in the TM the PC and database repair slows down noticably.  I

cannot End Task on them individually.  Since I'm not on line I don't know why I need

AvastBrowser running but I cannot find any place to stop it.  How do I stop this?
