Cyberhawk (Is any one testing this ?)
« on: July 29, 2006, 02:24:49 PM »
Designed to complement your current antivirus solution,
Cyberhawk is a new behavior-based security software that stops
the most aggressive threats of all: Zero-Day threats so new that signature-based
programs have yet to develop defenses against them.
Cyberhawk detects and protects you against viruses, worms, trojans
and a wide range of spyware.Easy to use, instantly effective and light on system resources.
Best of all, it is completely free.

Is this another tool for us to use or, just another tool that duplicates what
many other programs already do?
It's time to do some testing.

Cons: It will slow down your computer. While it did have its affects on my compute rin general, the largest hit came in internet browsing...Internet Explorer was slow to load and loading pages was very painful.

The events information in the main screen is a little ambiguous. It says it defends against 3,000,000 or something different events. Its really hard to contemplate how they got that number.

On a computer with antivirus and antispyware and Advert Removers with active shields you will see that CyberHawk will not find many problems.

As another review said, uninstall is quite slow. It also requires a reboot at completion.

Doesn't give you much in-depth information about what specific part of a process is bad if it detects something.

They advertise as being something which no other antivirus and antispyware has. While I can attest to the antivirus part, I cant say the same for antispyware. The product Spyware Terminator, which is also free, includes this same exact feature. That feature is called HIPS (Host Intrustion Prevention System). Its the same exact idea...it scans activity at the most critical level of your computer where generic antispyware and antivirus programs would never scna to begin with. And I think Spyware Terminator does its protection better and with less performance hits than CyberHawk.

Overall its a nice program, but I dont think you should completely ditch Antivirus/Antispyware as this program alludes to. Just stick to your favorite antivirus and go get Spyware Terminator.

hey bob...saw this one review against it and i think i will leave my system as is..was going to try it before i saw this.

have a good one avast! world..

It's installed on my system.
So far, I haven't noticed any slowdowns although I'm sure there probably is some.
Any program that scans, uses resources and therefore has to have an effect on
performance how ever slight it might be.
I've taken screen shots during the installation and also within the program itself.
A slide show is available here.
Flash required. Sorry it takes a few seconds to load.
