Revert back to free

My AIS expired so I thought it would revert back to free but it didn't. What should I do?

Asyn:
1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

mchain:
Always a good idea to save the offline installer should you ever need it again in the future.   ;)

schmidthouse:
FYI it's also possible a second reboot could be required if the installation encounters any issues.
Settling Drivers can be troublesome :)

It doesn't revert automatically.  As far as I can remember if you start the uninstall process for AIS, I believe avast suggests installing avast free.

One thing to be wary of though.  If you were on the automatic payment renewal you need to cancel that also.
