I use IE6 and Firebird mainly,...no problems with Avast. Maybe Mike's problem is browser related,...i dunno, it is a possibility.

IE latest version and MyIE. It is unlikely browser oriented tho since removal of avast immediately makes it work fine again.
MyIE is like IE on steroids. No popups appear anymore, many many many plugins available once you use it you'll trash netscape, opera and the rest (except ie since it uses shdocvw.dll).
