How to remove free "gift" offer from Free AV GUI?
« on: February 19, 2019, 06:47:00 PM »
I just installed the most recent version (19.2.2364) of Avast Free Antivirus for Windows (desktop). I want to know if there's any way to remove or hide the "Thanks for joining Avast - Here's a welcome gift" offer from the main GUI. If so, how can I do that, please?

Thanks

I don't believe so, the free versions comes with promotions (ads) for other avast products.  The paid versions of avast can switch these off.

The welcome gift may well not be there for a long time, but would periodically be changed to something else.  I suspect that this welcome gift could be a trial of one of the paid products, in the hope you would take them up on it.

I have been using avast free for over 14 years and from the introduction of these promotions I haven't taken any of them up.  Outside of helping out in the forums I rarely open the UI, so I don't see much in that regard.  But there are also the toaster popup promotions also.

Looks like you have been ambushed ;)

There's always going to be an ad of one type or another.
As DavidR mentioned,  most of us hardly ever open the Avast UI.
Many things are reachable via a right click on the Avast system tray icon.
