Length of time to do a scan ??
« on: March 01, 2019, 01:15:30 PM »
Hi All,
This is a suggestion to all the Tech guys who write Avast.
Can you ADD an estimate time to finish a scan of a hard drive or computer ???
I am waiting to do a re boot of the pc but have a scan running.
I am torn between cancelling scan,or hope it finishes soon.
both are important jobs to do..
Thanks for reading !!

As you may know, how long a scan of a drive takes depends.

Full scan takes longer than a 'quick scan'.  Scanning including all archives will take longer than without.   Scanning for archives is optional.

Avast has not had this estimated time feature for quite some time now, about some five or six years.

Reason for a virus scan?
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797
 UI version 1.0.788.  Windows 11 Home 23H2 - Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.2.6105 (build 24.1.8918.827) UI version 1.0.801

Once you know your system is safe, scheduled scans in a modern AV like Avast really aren't needed.
