Thanks to a Breach in Avast forum (May 2014)
« on: April 05, 2019, 04:31:39 PM »
"In May 2014, the Avast anti-virus forum was hacked and 423k member records were exposed.
The Simple Machines Based forum included usernames, emails and password hashes."

Which led to another unverified breach that seems no big deal so far.

Only this year did i get phishing mails thanks to it after doing a good research about that mail,
thought i should let anyone know.

Unless your are using a unique email address for the forums (not use anywhere else, how would you know what is/was responsible for this spam/scam email.

I haven't received any spam or scam emails based on the email address used around the time of the breach.

Obviously I can't check the email concerned on haveibeenpwned.com and not having any details on the information given by them.  I can't say when and where the leak originated.

Now the link given by Asyn gives you a date it can give you a better idea of when and more importantly the likely origin.  But here you don't say what that date was.

In 2016 from avast.com, either way not a big deal.
Just wanted to hear from a few people here when did theirs got leaked after this breach occurred.

My personal account doesnt get a ton of messages in this regard, but the work email is flooded everyday. So much so that we had to add a rule to the spam filter to reject messages with the work "bitcoin" in the message body  :-\
