Avast may be causing Event ID 10005 DistributedCOM error
« on: April 08, 2019, 04:04:56 PM »
Anyone else getting this error in event viewer? A tenforums.com contributor claims the errors stop if Avast is turned off:
https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/127599-event-id-10005-w-securityhealthservice-id-7001-w-avastwscreport.html

I am running Windows 10 Pro x64, version 1809, build 17763.404 (latest version)

I am using Avast ver 19.3.2369-build 19.3.4241.445, virus definitions 190408-0 (latest versions)

Error 1115 means "shutdown in progress". Did your PC hang during shutdown process? Do you have some problems with shutdown? This error may (or may not) be a problem, because someone tries to start WSC service (="SoftwareHealthService") during shutdown process and it leads to this error, which is "expected".

Hi pk,

I don't have any noticeable effects on my PC. Everything seems to be running fine. Startups are fast and shutdowns are normal. I just posted this to see if others are getting this error logged in their event viewers. This first step is being initiated to see if this is a common problem that needs to be addressed by the Avast team. I don't have any problems with my PC.

Thanks!

UPDATE: I just did a clean install so it is not Avast. Sorry for the confusion but I was misled by the tenforums.com analysis.

Hi signuprepli.
Thanks for your post: I've the same issue too since months but I'm not eager to fresh-install Windows 10 by now. I hope MS will solve it in the next major update.

Bye!
