« on: April 09, 2019, 03:21:46 PM »
Good news everyone!
New stable version 19.4.2374 has just been released.

What's NEW:

- File Shield is now running sanboxed for higher security (aswEngSrv.exe process)
- We're migrating all our SafeZone users to the new Avast Secure Browser

What we FIXED:

- AvLaunch won't show up twice in the Startup menu anymore
- HTTPS scanning now works with the latest versions of Firefox
- We'll now link you to a specific help article when Wi-Fi Inspector finds a vulnerability

How to install:

1. Update from your existing Avast version via Settings -> Update -> Update program

2. Or you can download and install from here

Online installers (recommended):

Free: https://bits.avcdn.net/insttype_FREE

Internet Security: https://bits.avcdn.net/insttype_IS

Premier: https://bits.avcdn.net/insttype_APR

Offline installers:

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup_offline.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

We hope you enjoy the new version!

I really like the new update notification, at least in Internet Security. No junk and a link to info on what was fixed or changed which is really nice touch.

A point of interest/note as far as what's new and what's been fixed, this topic Impossible to execute Autochk on disc C: - error (766f6c756d652e63 3f1). This was not the only topic relating to this problem.

It was reported in this topic that this was to be fixed in 19.4 and that it was fixed in the later 19.4 beta build, but no mention of it in the 'What we FIXED' section of the change log.

For me autocheck / chkdsk works now. But a new issue manifested itself ... now every time I start Firefox I'm being asked for my certificate store master password... ::) Not kidding.

Weird considering:
the - HTTPS scanning now works with the latest versions of Firefox
is on the What we FIXED:

I just wonder if it might be needed to reimport the certificate.

I just tried re-importing the certificate that I exported from avast Old Interface\SSL scanning\Export certificate  (Still don't know a better way of getting to it), but result is the same. Still wants me to enter the master password on every start.

There was a similar (possibly the same) issue that I believe Asyn posted in Slack, mention was Firefox ESR'
Unfortunately I don't know anymore as I have not encountered this issue.

Personally I'm using Firefox 66.0.2, I believe it to be the latest release/stable (non beta) version.

It does the same even if I try disabling web shields, HTTPS scanning...or even all shields.

Later addition:
Reinstalling Firefox doesn't help. If you install it from scratch (no profiles or private data) of course it is OK, but if you enable Master password protection, it immediately requests for the password upon every restart.

So the question is, why is Avast trying to access this on every start ?

I'm having a problem with the latest version of Avast and Firefox 67 beta as well almost every https site I visit won't load just gives a certificate error so I had to switch to Avira until this is fixed as it makes Firefox unusable

Hi guys,

as I wrote here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=226187.msg1500574#msg1500574 this bug (master password dialog) comes from Mozilla. It affects Firefox ESR and Firefox 66 as well.

Reagrds,

New Avast (free and premier) won't install properly on win10 LTSB 1607 x64. The GUI fails to load (after install) and it says something about beng embarassed :P I press restart, it fails, then try to fix it and it fails too. Didn't have any antivirus on it before. Did the repair install, avast clear etc, nothing works.

What type of installer did you use: online or offline ?
An offline installation often solves this kind of problems
