Please ignore, the issue has resolved itself.

Hi,

With this release, my Avast icon has an ! suggesting there is an issue but I cannot find one apart from the usual alerts to say about pc problems etc.

Why is this showing up when it did not do so before?

Martin

Just tested for presence of unsecapp.exe myself.
Turned Behaviour Shield OFF (indefininately).
Reboot.
On restart unsecapp.exe process not listed in Task Manager.
Turned ON Behaviour Shield in UI. (No need to reboot to take effect)
unsecapp.exe process again listed in Task Manager.
It does not seem to be using any CPU though.

Is presence of unsecapp.exe part of proper and intended operation of Avast and Behaviour Shield or is it a defect?

New or old build, random CPU usage occur sometimes

This has been a little bit irritating when I recognize that my CPU fan spins heavily without me doing anything heavy stuff. When I open task manager, it was Avast that use almost 15% of CPU for around 5 minutes. I opened Avast, there isn't any observable process like updating definition or program or scanning files. It's something beyond the surface that Avast doing something I didn't know. Perhaps virus? There isn't any notification about threats anyway. So far today, I counted that it happens 4 times already in a random time. In the previous days, it happened too but I was too busy to check it.

I regularly use Adobe programs and 3d software and I know so well when my CPU fan will spin faster during heavy image processing stuff. My PC spec is also considerably fast (i7 4770, 16GB Ram, GTX1060, healthy Samsung SSD). But in recent days, Avast adds another workload to my CPU. Could somebody help me what's going on?

It makes me wonder what the use is of the overseer.exe function which is supposedly meant to monitor Avast to ensure  it is running correctly.  If not it is meant to try and fix it (even if it needs to run a Repair), presumably if that doesn't work, should that fact not be reported to Avast ?

If this presumed actions sequence isn't entirely correct, should it be, or what is the point of this function ?

Good question, however I think this issue is very iscolated as I'm not seeing this on either Win 10 64 Bit  OS's.

That surely is the whole point of this tool, to try and fix or gather the data (generate a support package) to pass it up the line so that even isolated problems (the hardest to determine/resolve) are passed to support.

I haven't experienced this on any of my systems.

I simply attempted re-bringing in the testament that I sent out from avast Old Interface\SSL scanning\Export declaration (Still don't have the foggiest idea about a superior method for getting to it), however result is the equivalent. Still needs me to enter the ace secret word on each begin.
