Avast Firewall started blocking DHCP request from my laptop
« on: April 15, 2019, 10:44:28 PM »
Recently I started to have issues with my laptop connecting to a network (wired & wireless).  It would be connected but I was not getting an IP address from the DHCP server on the network (router at home & Window at client site).  I found that if I disable the Avast firewall for a period of time I can then get an IP.

Anyone else experiences this same issue recently?  Even after the last AV software update it still blocks DHCP.

Is the Avast firewall set to private? (Home and Office)
Default setting is public.

It seems to be happening no matter if the network is set to Private or Public.  I don't see anything blocked in the logs but DHCP fails every time the lease expires.

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
