Is there a bug in boot time update of special definitions
« on: April 21, 2019, 06:13:53 AM »
Hi, I am having the latest version of avast antivirus.
When i tried to update the special definitions for boot time scan, there is a progressbar that reports installing updates, but never seem to close with the same blue line moving  even after minutes of waiting.
Are there that much special definitions for boot scan or is there a bug in installing the special definitions. it is never ending a kind of loopGUI.
Willl you give me athe answer and solution to this

Why do you want to run a boot-time scan?

There was a bug in one of the earlier versions, but that has been fixed.

Hi, Asyn, thanks for your reply.
I did mention that i have the latest virus definition file.
I also did mention that when i cancel and then opt for boot scan, the screen shows necessary files have been updated screen.
How many minutes that would take the newest version to get the boot definitions updated.
Please look in to this.
When i cancel after waiting for some minutes, the screen updated appeared.

Hi, just tested it and it only took a few seconds. Note, I'm on a rather fast connection (250 Mbit).

Please kindlyl include  something that would give the user the approximate time that it would take to update. Your speed is 250mbps but my speed is 10 mpbs. What is the size of the special definitions Would you also include in the screen. That would give us a definite idea , that it is downloading instead of moving up and reverse in a line style.
That scan proved to be a blessings for a long time opt scan, which shows corrupted zips and viruses.
i have about 9 virus or PUPs in todays scan, which i noted in quarantine virus chest
Hoe that you would do this

That's something for the devs to answer/consider/change...

You're welcome. If you didn't get any errors, it should be OK.
