discovered something new
if I restart the computer, no sound, if I put it to sleep, on wake, I have sound, albeit with some glitches, but if I turn it off, or if I restart  again, I get no sound, put it to sleep, gets the sound back.

this is quite the mistery

Why in the world would I install a third party program that I know nothing about.
Maybe that's what killed your sound

I didn't ask you to install it.  That's what fixed my sound.
