update error: failed to read from ini file
« on: May 03, 2019, 04:18:02 AM »
I am having a virus definition update problem in Windows 7 Pro. I've read a number of similar topics and suggested solutions... When I go to control panel and try to "repair" Avast Free, the repair fails and the log shows this entry:

2019-05-03 02:04:08.059Warningini_access[1424,1048]failed to read from ini file C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\burger_client.ini

There is no sign of a "burger_client.ini" file on my computer.

Ideas? I am trying to avoid a complete uninstall and re-installation.

A clean install isn't really that earth shattering. :)

If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.

In the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\ folder I don't see a "burger_client.ini" file either, there are two burger_client sub-folders but no "burger_client.ini" file in there either.
