Avast And Express VPN
« on: May 04, 2019, 06:16:13 AM »
I have express VPN. Trouble is, if I use the express vpn and do a dns leak test, it comes up exposed. So I try another location and it's ok. Next day I try that same server location and the dns is exposed. If I disable avast, all server locations are fine. I have spoke to express vpn support and they say that some anti virus conflicts wityh their product and the best thing to do is either try another server location or disable avast.
I have gone into the settings and added express vpn as a exception but it doesn't make any difference.

Anyone got any ideas?

Avast -> Protection -> Real Site.

You need disable "Real Site" protection in Avast, becouse Avast Real Site use own DNS, and thats why you leak.

Legend, thanks for that, Do I need to still allow the exceptions too?
Any risk or harm disabling that feature?

When "Real Site" is enabled there is always a leak, but the DNS leak test from ExpressVPN does not always pick that up, depending on the location you are connected to.

With this tool, the AVAST DNS is always visible.

But should "Real site" be disabled? Isn't the traffic going trough ExpressVPN server at all?
