what is avast engine server???

antivirus engine server just started running on may background processes and lagging my old laptop... what kind of program is it... may laptops pretty old but the antivirus engine server lagging my old laptop please help....

aswEngSrv.exe process is sandboxed scanning server process which protects uses again exploitation of our scanning engine.
In process explorer you can see its limited privileges and access rights in security tab.

there were several reports about high memory usage by aswengsrv + we found that in same cases aswengsrv and cybercapture dont cooperate as we expected. Till we fix these issues we decided  to  disable aswengsrv service.

BTW What is your avast version?
- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?

thank you so much for the info... im a long time free user of avast even on my android phone... i never had once had a paid/full version of avast installed on my laptop because im a free user but I always install avast, i never tried installing other antivirus because i want to be constantly using the one product that always fits and works for me from my experience and my laptop...

You can Do Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
