Compliment
« on: May 18, 2019, 03:17:17 PM »
The Avast Online Security extension is absolutely superb. Since I installed it I have not
had any adware or tracking cookies on my PC. It does a 100% job.

My default browser is Chrome using Windows 10 and I have installed this extension on my Opera and Firefox
secondary browsers.

My image shows how great it works in even blocking an analytics cookie from the Avast Forum.

I could not find a download for this extension for my Avast Secure Browser.

Any clues please.

Where have you been looking ?

It is a component of Avast and has to be installed - AvastUI > Menu > Settings - General > Troubleshooting > Add/Modify Components.

Then it would have to be enabled in your browser.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

All that looks OK, but this online security extension is not showing on my Avast Secure Browser
like it does on the other browsers. A Security Centre & Privacy is, but that is not the same.

All done, extension now added, but it came via a CHROME link. As I already have the extension on my Chrome,
I had ignored adding it to Chrome, but it added it to my Avast browser.
All OK now,

Good that all is now OK.

Perhaps that has more to do with the fact that Avast Secure Browser (ASB) is a stand alone product, you don't have to have avast installed.

I find it a little strange that it wouldn't come as a default (or make it easier to include) in the ASB.  I don't use ASB, so I can't speak from personal experience.

EDIT:  Was this the Chrome link that you used, I found this in an old sticky in the ASB sub forum, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=219308.0 ?

The important features of AOS are already included in ASB.

But does it also check your search results and place the check marks, etc. as it did in the early versions.  I think that is pretty helpful for many users.

No, you'll need to install the extension for this function.

This is the chrome link I used to add AOS extension to ASB.

Yes that appears to be the one in the topic link I gave.

Nice to have confirmation that it still works, thanks.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

IMO Avast should include this extension in the AV package as David R suggested.
It seems rather stupid to me to have a completely separate extension, which does
an excellent job so closely associated with the protection Avast already provides in their AV program.

Hi, in fact, AOS is included in the AV package (if you don't deselect it via custom install).

Thank you Asyn for that. I am on Avast FREE and it is not included.
