An error has occured while attemptin to update!

Hi, i was updating the avast and the computer blocked so i had to reset, and now this red message shows up "An error occurred while attemptin to update!"..Everything else it seems like working normal resident protection and etc. exept that the computer blockes all the time and i cant update the avast, so what to do?How to resolve this?

It sounds normal that because the computer (b)locked during an update and you reset it, the update would fail and avast would report that. Try a manual Update of the Program or iAVS, whatever you were updating.

Which is the error message? Can you post a screenshot?
Do you use a firewall? Is avast.setup allowed to connect and update?

Then please give the FULL error text, avast! Log Viewer, check the Warning, Error, Notice sections or post a screenshot as Tech suggests.

I also have this problem, here is info from error.log :

Been having this problem for ever, and the firewall wont work from that moment aswell (im only using the avast firewall, often off when playing but on when browsing sites et.c.)
Would be thankfull for some help on this matter.

How do I delete avast4 from computer (will be replaced if not be able to fix)?

Are you trying to connect other computer in your network?

im only using the avast firewall

avast is an antivirus and NOT a firewall...

How do I delete avast4 from computer (will be replaced if not be able to fix)?

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation (read http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_uninstall_util.html)
4. Boot
5. Install again or install other antivirus...

Does this occur at any update?
You can download servers.def from here: http://download1.avast.com/iavs4x/servers.def
Save it to C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\setup folder
Start the update again.

Hi David, when i click on "Click here for more information..." it does not say anything, there is no information.The computer is constantly blocking  i use Pentium-MMX CPU at 200Mhz and it was perfectly working fine until yesterday, now i cant accses in the computer couse its blocking, i cant see now what does say the Log Viewer.I am thinking on to unninstal the XP Pro and try with Windows Pro 2000 or maybe Linux, after that to install the latest version of Avast. If you have any other sugestion please post here or send me pm...Thanks
