Avast Update Causes Corruption
« on: May 21, 2019, 03:05:19 AM »
Hi,
I just updated my Avast Internet Security, it Forced a restart which immediately made me suspicious.
It was Blocking my Proton VPN immediately after this update and now it cannot find License Key which I have from my e mail from avast.
I have tried using it but just get An unexpected Error occurred.
Getting tired of fixing my Avast
Not happy

Hey! What is your avast version?

Do Repair:1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Uninstall'.
3. Follow instructions.(Click Repair)
4. Reboot.

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.

A system restart after a program update is normal not suspicious.
Many changes can't happen without a restart.
Make sure your Firewall setting is set to private.

I would try a couple more reboots first before anything else :)

I tried all the suggestions above no luck.
The Forced Restart happened with no user input it just rebooted with No warning.
Was easier for "Me" to do a fresh windows install and reload with new drives, No Back ups were used.
I am getting sign in warnings on some of my 2 Factor websites.
My Clients are starting to  call because they are having the same issue.
Thanks
