Avast Online Security
« on: May 26, 2019, 08:41:30 AM »
I run Avast Free and wondered how Avast Online Security (AOS) was added to Chrome. I understood that AOS was linked to the subscription only version of Avast that offered a VPN. When I use a VPN, I use the free one offered by Opera. Before AOS was there, the machine which was bought last October, seemed quieter when working with 6 opened Chrome windows.

By clicking on the AOS button in a Chrome tab, it gives me a tally of the numbers of what I assume to be tracking cookies. I already use ABP for that and it seems to block many more than AOS. I wondered if this means over-use of resources, and should I uninstall it?

My machine is an Aspire ES 17 with a 4GB DR3 L Memory (and 256 GB SSD whatever that means!)
