It's too much to write and i especially don't like anti AOL stuff that people write even without actually checking the software...

RejZoR,
Are you saying that AOL is offering a full fledged current version of Kaspersky.  ???
If they are, please fill us in. From everything I've read, it's a crippled strippped down version.

- it's 6.0.303 (the latest version, just gui is reporting it wrong, don't ask me why).
- it doesn't call home except AOL toolbar (if you haven't unchecked it that ain't my fault)
- only thing that it lacks is HTTP scanner and Proactive Defense and few minor settings, everything else is the same as in retail KAV
- anyone can use it, not just AOL subscribers
- it's not crap just because it has word AOL written on it...

RejZoR, is it a time-limited version, I mean, won't update after that or not?
Could it be a non-resident scanner?
Just thinking of having KAV after all this time I'm listening good things of it...

Tech right now it's a one year offer and it's resident.
For non resident, there's always ClamWin. :)

Does it allow to install as a second non-resident scanner?

For non resident, there's always ClamWin. :)
Well, as far I know, Kaspersky has one of the best detection rates.
ClamWin is far from that (yet)  :'(

I've still had it on my laptop to see how it does, but so far so good, no fuss, no problems, I feel it's very light and no slow down.

I think it's a very good deal to get Kaspersky technlogy for free, even it's a stripped-down version but it's very worth to get the full auto update almost hourly and full protection from viruses, worms, trojans, adware, spyware, riskware, rootkits from its real-time file/mail scanner.

Well no one ever said you couldn't renew it after 1 year. It's still far away, but who knows. Maybe we'll be able to renew it for another year...

I agree on detection. I can't agree you call it a 'full protection'.

But can it be installed as a non-resident? Is it only for EUA users?

Does anybody manage to install Active Virus Shield as a second, non-resident, antivirus or this is impossible?
Or remove... or nothing...
Worse than this is that BitDefender is not a resident and it did not detect ClamWin  ::)
