Having Blue Screen after installing Avast on Windows 2000
« on: August 10, 2006, 01:55:03 AM »
OS Windows 2000 Professional

I had AVG antivirus before. I installed Avast (2 days back) on this machine and rebooted. Now I am getting the blue screen with the message

STOP: c0000139 {entry Point Not Found}
The procedure entry point _aulldvrm could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll.

I have tried to all safe and debug modes. I also went to console recovery and disabled all Avast and AVG services, still not luck. I have also tried to replace the ntdll.dll file with the original file from Windows installation CD.

Will appreciate any advice any of you have got. Searched this forum and the web, but could not find anything.

Thanks

The "Last known good configuration" boot option should do the trick.
If not, delete the file WinNT\System32\aswBoot.exe from the recovery console - then you should be able to boot normally. As soon as you boot into Windows, invoke avast! program update (so that you get the fixed version).
