This in the light of recent developments in Google chrome that will hinder adblockers to quite an extent.
They will set the extension standards, and there seems no way around old monopolist Google's.

When users on VPN start to use: https://restoreprivacy.com/eblocker-review/ and block on system-level,
is worse and then Google has lost such users for ads completely, but it will cost you 200 bucks,
so pi-hole is a cheaper free alternative to do the same.

A look at AdGuard DNS  https://www.ghacks.net/2018/12/31/a-look-at-adguard-dns/

--- Quote ---Russian company AdGuard is best known for its (paid) ad-blocking solution. The DNS server is free of charge and can be used by anyone.

Some users may not want to send their entire DNS traffic to a Russian company; others may distrust Google or Cloudflare, or their ISP. Those who want to be in control may want to take a look at Pi Hole instead, a local solution based on Raspberry Pi devices.

Adguard also offers self-hosting software like PiHole: Adguard Home ( https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHome )
