This answer from MS says their engineers are looking into your issue

If you look at my original reply, you will find that I already posted their link. This is something MS needs to solve.

For anyone who wants to know, I've solved my issue with Windows sandbox having no internet connection. Upon reading the replies of the new v19.7 release, someone mentioned an "internet connection sharing mode" setting located in the firewall settings. I went in and enabled it. Started Windows Sandbox and wholla, internet working!

I found this solution on the AVG forum and can confirm that it works in avast too, however there is a caveat in the FAQs regarding this to the effect that it should be disabled when not required and I'm happy to go along with that and only enable it when using Windows sandbox.

Furthermore, I have just started using avast SecureLine VPN, and now find that this also has to be turned off to be able to use Windows sandbox.

I noticed this is still a problem in 2021. Windows 10 (21H1) Sandbox stopped working when I installed avast. Once I enabled "Internet Connection Sharing Mode" it started working again.
