Avast! GUI freezes
« on: August 10, 2006, 05:53:43 AM »
Uh oh, I'll bet this is related to the recent program update 4.7.869: When I open the simple user interface it either freezes up and ctrl-alt-del is the only way out, or I get the message shown in the attachment. I would have discovered this sooner but lately I've found it easier to right-click on the tray icon and perform the updates from the menu ("Updating").

I'm using WIN98SE, avast! Home 4.7.871 (just updated during this post but it made no difference), and Mac Skin.

What language version of Windows do you use?
What is the full path to the avast! installation folder?

I use the English version, 4.10.2222A, located in
"C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashAvast.exe"

It's not the same - as you're using the default path - but I had this problem too...
Need to uninstall... http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=22430
By the way, Igor, any word about that thread?

RF, any errors in avast! Log Viewer?

Tech, I'm rather leaving this thread for Vlk - don't know much about the new DB, that's his speciality.

Quite a lot of errors, apparently. I'm posting an edited .txt file for the 9th and 10th of August. (I've substituted "userxxx" for my name).

This sounds like a re-install to me and I don't have a problem with that.
