Set your avast firewall settings to Private.  Reboot to enable the new setting to set.

Did you just update your avast installation?

I did just update. to prevent pollution i made a new topic. I always have avast set to private and disabled the automatic switching of this setting.

You can report a false positive when it detects a file.
We need more specific information to be of any real help.

I'm guessing they disabled it again.

Here today, gone tomorrow? The question is when will it show up again? Or, has it been permanently removed?

Given what it is seeking to do (scanning done in a sandbox) I would rather think it will be back.  But I guess there could be difficulties if there are other sandboxes functioning on the system and or its resource use.

Sometimes even the best intentioned features aren't easily incorporated. I'm sure that this may work well if the computer has the horsepower.
Maybe it should only install if a computer has the required amount of ram, etc. ?

Good news everyone!
New AV version 19.6.2383 has just been released.

What's NEW:

  • A smarter Smart Scan - We've redesigned our Smart Scan to be better than ever, and you can now even schedule it
  • Improved performance - We've reduced the amount of disk and CPU usage our antivirus needs
  • Improved stability - We've unified some headers across the app for greater stability
  • A cleaner goodbye - If you ever uninstall us (gasp!), we now do a better job of removing all our files
  • Bug stomping - Sensitive Data Shield scans no longer finish prematurely, and Mail Shield no longer blocks connections if it can't connect to an IPv6 address
  • Game on! - We're now more compatible with games that use anti-cheating measures (e.g., League of Legends)

How to install:

1. Update from your existing Avast version via Settings -> Update -> Update program

2. Or you can download and install from here:

Online installers (recommended):

Offline installers:

We hope you enjoy the new version!

Why this thing takes half an hour to install and then it was just broken, presumably because I'm blocking everything google related on a router level. Why the hell would you depend on google to such an extent?!

I think I read someplace that 8.8.8.8 is used in the updating processes.

It should NEVER rely on anything so heavily that blocking such 3rd party stuff totally screws it up to a point I couldn't install it. I had to force reboot into Safe Mode and use avast! Uninstall Utility because I couldn't uninstall the half installed avast! normal way.
