misleading:win32/lodi
« on: July 07, 2019, 05:33:33 PM »
Microsoft Safety Scanner tells me that our computer has been infected with misleading:win32/lodi and it has been partially removed, why hasn't Avast detected this Trojan and, if possible, how do I remove misleading:win32/lodi totally?
Thanks,
Bill

If you downloaded Avast from the official download site, there isn't anything to worry about.
Appears to be a false positive on the part of a heuristic detection by Microsoft.

He does not say that a avast file is detected, he is asking why avast does not detect

misleading:win32/lodi  = PUP giving fake/misleading info

Then you keep advising him/her. I've posted my reply even if you don't agree with it.

I have tried other products, including Malwarebytes, but Microsoft Safety Scanner appears to be the only one that has located misleading:win32/lodi, so is it the consensus that this is a false positive?

Thanks,

Bill

That was my consensus based on the links to research and opinions offered including that same opinion in the AVG forum.
AVG is owned by Avast.

I too have been notified bout Misleading:Win32/Lodi after a full scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner, Spy-bot  Search & Destroy, Malwarebyts, and Avast and even MS Defender and the MSERT program or app is the only one to report it and I spent 2 days trying to get information as to removing what was left of this pain in the A__ bug as MSERT reports it has partially removed it and use their link to finish removal. Still have not gotten it off and every time I run MSERT it shows up over and over so if anyone has found a solution please pass it on to all of us.
