Second Dell PC Being Detected
« on: July 22, 2019, 07:25:36 AM »
I only have one Dell PC but Omni is detecting a second one. I'm suspecting this is because the Dell, which is indeed an OptiPlex 745, is a dual boot system (Windows/Linux). When I'm booted to Windows, the 745 shows as offline. When I'm booted to Linux, the 745 shows as online. I have tried removing the 745 from the list, but it is again detected. I have also tried blocking the 745 but the indicator just spins and never completes the task.

It's not a huge deal to me. I thought you would want to know how Omni is handling my dual boot system.

Thank you for this feedback. It's really valuable to us!
It may indeed be due to your dual boot system. Do you have multiple network interfaces, ie multiple Wifi adapters and/or wired ethernet?

Thanks,
Will

Hello Will,

Yes, four adapters: ethernet, wifi, VPN, and VirtualBox host.

Thanks,
Simion

That may be the reason why.
I will check with others and confirm :)

I'm seeing something similar with a number of my devices. Mostly mobile devices such as my 2018 iPad Pro 11" and one of my Kid's Google Pixel 2 phones. I'm trying to figure out a way to clean up the list of devices a bit, and maybe get a better handle on the names for some of the devices that Omni detects.
