Omni Filter Categories
« on: July 26, 2019, 01:40:02 AM »

Something I noticed is that as the primary account, I couldn't set filters for my devices. As a workaround I created a 2nd Adult account to assign my devices to in order to enable web filter categories.  In order to manage the accounts and devices I did have to keep at least 1 device on the primary account without the filters set.

It would be nice to either be able to enable filter categories on the primary account or be able to manage devices via a web portal.

Content filters are not intended for self-control of Family Guardians (your own, primary account). What was the goal you were pursuing? I can think of two things:
  • blocking the Malware category - this is already secured by Omni hub on your home network as well as Web Shield when you are on the go (see "My phone" screen). Malware category will be soon removed from Content filters, because it will be turned on by default for all Family Members.
  • fighting procrastination by blocking Social media etc. for yourself - but like said above, Omni was not built around this goal.

Was your goal one of these or something entirely else?

The idea is that my devices are not solely used by myself.  I’m sure I’m not the only one who had let their young children use their devices from time to time.  Blocking things like Porn is definitely something I want on all my devices.

Hope that clears it up for you.

Hello, We have discussed the issue and for now, we are not planning to add some content filter for admin app. But the feedback has been noted. Thank you
