Avast Secure Browser installed without Avast being installed
« on: September 08, 2019, 07:34:46 PM »
When I started my computer this morning, I was surprised to see Avast Secure Browser had opened. Almost a year ago now I uninstalled Avast and it's related components. This obviously isn't normal behavior for any program and raises questions of Avast's predatory and malicious practices. (Ads for other services they sell on my own PC)

My entire family has used Avast for years and have been very satisfied with it up until today. Avast is acting more like malware than it is an anti-virus. The horrible ads that scare elderly or the less technologically inclined are for a different topic. Should these issues not be resolved, I think we will start looking for another anti-virus and report Avast to Google Safe Browsing (not that it will do anything)

There are other programs that have the ability to install Avast Secure Browse.
It can also happen if you've had the Avast  SafeZone Browser installed and it was converted to the Secure Browser.
(Just stabbing at some things that could have made this happen.)
