license expired renewal fails
« on: September 06, 2019, 03:21:06 AM »
Avast updated and right after it alerted me to expired license. I clicked renew. sends me to page to pick free vs premium. select free then get page to try premium. select no thanks. then it goes back to renew option with expired license.

I believe the problem is the freaking page trying to force down your throat premium trial when you just selected you want the free version.

I believe your coding is broke and it fails to update the program that the license is renewed.  >:(

Same here and cannot find renewal for Free. This is on the Win 7 side of my dual-booting 7+10 machine, and if I cannot renew Avast Free for the 7, I'm just going to ditch 7 and move everything to the 10, which I have to do soon anyway. So - what buttons do I push to renew Free?

Its not a windows 7 specific issue Mine is on windows 10.

I now have zero protection. because avast refuses to renew my license,  I knew this was going to be an issue at some point when they first initiated this process.

I am starting to wonder if this is deliberate on avast end. Because I have never given any indication of ever using their paid services, not even the free trials for said services due to not wanting left over files from a incomplete delete program process. Once the free trial is over.

If you can't solve your problem, you could always do a clean install.

If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.

A few days later, Avast Free prompted me from within Avast, and this time showed the Free option.  I have renewed as Free

Obviously, on the earlier prompt, they are hiding the free option in the hope you will agree to pay for the premium version.

Just wait a few days.

Annoying, but, after all, free.
