Examining File linkage - stuck
« on: September 10, 2019, 04:40:04 AM »
Scanning an external hard drive the scan appears to be stuck at 94% reading 'Examining File Linkage'.
Should I be patient or cancel the scan?

Hi,

it is hard to say what might happened there without knowing any details.

If you would send us logs we will look at them to see whether there is a problem and fix it if possible.
You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\Avast Cleanup\tulogcollector.exe.
Just please add your email address there so we can join the logs with your report here.

Thank you.

Hey there!

I am having the exact same issue.
I tried to have it running over night, but to no avail.

I already sent in the logs via the log collector tool, not sure if you would want the log here on the forum also?

Thanks,
Will

Hello,

thank you for sending the log files, we will take a look at it.

I would like to make sure that I understand when it happened, so you have external hard drive plugged in and then you start Free up space -> System junk scan or Maintenance and it got stucked in the scanning phase on 'Examining File Linkage'?
Is that correct? I am asking because we would like to simulate it in our environment to be able to analyze it right on the machine if possible.

Thank you.

Hey Stellarman,

Yes you are right, it just get stuck at 84% in 'Examining File Linkage', it is not a external HDD it is my main Local Disk C:, where I have windows etc installed.
Thanks for the quick follow up :)

If you need any more info, please let me know.

Best,
Will
