Avast provides false claim about VPN
« on: September 07, 2019, 01:21:54 PM »
Avast displays a pop-up dialog showing that I have 4 privacy issues. In summary, the application describes things like my location is exposed, anyone can see what I do and my IP is visible. The dialog is clearly a marketing message since the Resolve feature opens another dialog to purchase SecureLine VPN. The problem I have is that this message occurs while I am using OpenVPN and another commercial VPN product so I know that Avast's privacy claim is false. For example, the message shows my location as a city where I am not located. It is probably true that it is detecting the location of a VPN server.

Is there any way to disable pop-ups like these?

19.6.2383 (build 19.6.4546.517) - Avast Free Antivirus
