Can not use Avast browser
« on: September 20, 2019, 07:26:48 PM »
Hi
When I open up Avast browser and type from keyboard it types different characters than the ones I type.  Also when I go into settings it says it is my default browser with no way to turn it off. I called to support the other day and they told me to wait for the next update to fix it. I'm very disappointed with that answer and have lost confidence in this product. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is causing this and what I can do to fix it?
Thank you

Maybe it's time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Book Marks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.

Thank you for the advice on the Secure Browser. I uninstalled the Secure browser and reinstalled with the latest browser, 77.01803.76. Unfortunately, it is the same thing as before which when I type a character a completely different character shows. When I use Bank Mode it types OK. Any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Could this browser have a virus or malware?  I read on Tom's Hardware the following
"While modifying Google's open-source Chromium browser into Avastium, Avast removed a safeguard that stopped a Web server from remotely accessing local (i.e., non-Internet) files or running local commands on a client's (i.e., your) browser. Without that safeguard, Chromium's Developer Tools made it possible for the Web server to remote run malicious JavaScript code in a client's browser." Thank you

I think we would all like a link to that article. Not anything I've ever heard of. What version of Windows are you using? Avast or the Avast Secure Browser doesn't do anything to your keyboard.
