Cannot Renew My Free License

Hi,

I am using Avast version 18.7.2354, and I have tried to renew the free license repeatedly to no avail.  Well, today, after renewing repeatedly on previous days, it's telling me my license is expired. Worse still, it won't let me renew it.

Help, please. I don't want to switch from Avast to another product, but I can't leave my computer unprotected. I only need the simple, free version, and I'm not interested in a paid version. Please advise.

First of all, the W11332244H9900A0420-8MRTR8W5 code will not work for my version of the software.

Secondly, I would update to the new version of the program if I only could, but the UPDATE function will not work. The program icon has a little "exclamation" point in it in my toolbar, and the program advises me that my license has run out. Ok, so I follow the prompts and select the free license, and I still keep getting asked to select the license I want. It's like the program does not recognize that I am selecting the free license. I've rebooted. Nothing convinces the program that I have selected the free version of the software. It keeps saying my free license has expired. I keep selecting to renew the free license to no avail. Please help.

what about uninstall old then download  and install new?

I don't want to lose my settings. I can do that, but I was trying to avoid the inconvenience. Right now, I have my settings exactly as I want them. Is there a way to update and preserve my current settings?

If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.
