Avast blocking Youtube? ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT
« on: October 10, 2019, 09:02:44 PM »
Hi there,

I'm having a really odd problem with the Avast antivirus free version. When I want to watch a video on Youtube, anything looks good and the video play for about 10 seconds, then suddenly the page crashes and shows me the error: ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT.

I was trying to fix this error for a while I try all the steps on this guide: https://windowshelper.co/fix-err-connection-timed-out/ but nothing seems to work. Well, today I was doing some things on my computer, so I disable Avast for the day and I completely forgot about it. After that, my girlfriend opens some Youtube videos and everything works great.

I was surprised and then I see the antivirus disabled, so when I enabled it, the error appears again and makes me think that Avast is the problem.

I try to add Chrome and youtube to the whitelist in the settings but nothing helps. Anyone has this problem before? I really want to watch videos on Youtube without needing to disable the antivirus or change it for another one.

It isn't Avast. Check your browser settings and any programs that block sites. Check your extensions make sure you aren't preventing YouTube from playing.
I produce and view lots of YouTube videos and like you I use Avast. No blockage here.
What operating system? What version of Avast? Any other security related programs installed?
