about renewal
« on: November 02, 2019, 06:29:25 AM »
today i open my PC and got a notification that my "avast internet security" was automatically now updated to "avast premium security", and then i check my subscription and notice that its now have "renewal date: December 28,2019 (56 days remaining)" where before it was updated to premium security (formerly Avast Internet Security) it was supposed to expire in some months of year 2027 or 2030 (cant remember the year exactly),

does this means the "renewal date" means that after dec. 28 2019, it will be downgraded to avast free??? and pay for another subscription??? where it supposed to expire in 2027 or 2030?

or

does the "renewal date" means that after dec. 28,2019 it will still continue as "Avast premium security" until 2027/2030?

im a little bit confused here.
sorry for my bad english its not my main language thanks if answered.

I'm not aware of any license running as long as 2027/2030.
Did you buy from Avast directly or from a reseller..?

The longest license for Avast paid products is 3 years as far as I'm aware.  It looks like whomever owned that PC, put a hacked version of the program on it with an expiry date well over 3 years.  This would give it an expiry date if a legit copy of approx 2022 (not 2027 or 2030) if they installed it just before selling it to you.

It is possible that Avast has detected the license as hacked/cracked and switched you to a trial version of Avast Premium and that trial is usually of 60 days.

You would certainly need to contact Avast for confirmation.

thanks for the replies :)

@DavidR one more question since it was updated to Avast Premium Security and has a "renewal date of Dec.28,2019 (56 days remaining) active" does this mean that after its renewal on dec. 28 2019 it will continue as premium security or it will updated to avast free version?

because i check my subscription and just saw one has expiration to aug. 7,2021 and another one is has an early renewal date of dec. 23, 2019.

Well not sitting at your system I can't say for sure.

If what I commented on is correct and you are now on a trial version at the end of the trial period you would not be allowed to continue on the Premium version, you would either have to pay (to renew) or uninstall it.  At the point of uninstalling you should be offered Avast Free as an option.

That said, if you have another subscription (valid of course) expiration on August, 7, 2021 then you should be able to assign that subscription to your existing installation.
