Web Shield causing browsing to be unusable
« on: November 02, 2019, 08:25:15 PM »
Hi

Suddenly found browsing with Chrome, IE, Opera etc becomes so so slow as to become unusable. Turning Webshield off resolves the issue. It was fine before so presumably an update has broken it.

Using Avast Internet Security. Have disabled the extension in Chrome as well.

Any suggestions? Or just wait until there is a fix? Or bin Avast and use the latest Win10 inbuilt security which is apparently now pretty good.

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Thank you for reporting the issue.
If the issue persists or occurs again, could you please help us with investigation by providing some data?

To do this:
Please enable debug logging (Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > Enable debug logging).
Reproduce the issue (try visiting websites that were slowed down).
Create a support package (https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Submit-support-file) and post the ID here.

Thank you very much,
Jakub
