Core Shields Won't Turn On

I've been using the Avast Free Antivirus for Mac for a while now. A few days ago I updated my computer and I got an Avast notification that some of my Core Shields were turned off and that I neede to turn them on. But when I went to do so, it wouldn't work. It has been like that for a few days now and I have no clue how to fix it or what type of risks I could be facing. I would really appreciate any help with this issue.

This may receive more help in the Avast Mac Security sub-forum.

Whilst in the windows forum you might well have been asked to reboot as your first course of action.  Secondly an Avast Repair, but I don't know what features are supported in the Avast Mac Security product, being a Windows user.
