Invalid email from Android devices

I have been using the same email to log into Avast on my PC and this forum with no problem for years. This morning I downloaded and installed Avast Passwords om my Samsung S8. Everything went well until I tried to sync with my PC. I entered the same email, but when I entered the password the email was flagged as invalid.

I tried changing the password to a random  one generated by Passwords on my PC and copied and pasted it, but the same result.  I changed the keyboard on my phone and checked for any additional spaces but to no avail. I then repeated the whole process on my Lenovo tablet - exactly the same result.

I have run out of ideas...
