Avast doesn't play nice with Devil Daggers
« on: November 29, 2019, 06:02:30 PM »
First I'll say this, I'm a Steam client user and have been since I was young.
Second, after a brief scan of the fourms I noticed that pretty much EVERYONE who uses Steam runs into issues with Avast at one point or another.

What I DON'T get is that each time I go to play Devil Daggers Avast wants to act up and slow the game to the crawl. Devil Daggers cannot be played at a crawling pace due to the games' nature and thus Avast has cost me several run where I may have broken my survival record. It has also done to this to me with games like System Shock, where I'll lag out in the middle of a fight with a cyborg or a mutant and die.

The only way to prevent all this is to disable Avast while I use Steam which, to be quite honest, is NOT the wisest thing to do. They want to market Avast as the lightest antivirus out there and yet it bites into the minimal resources that the lightest game(s) on my system use when they are running.

Is there a solution to this problem that does not involve me having to switch antiviruses or disable Avast? Cause honestly I've recommended this antivirus to my friends for years and now I'm not so sure I want them using it on their gaming PCs if this keeps happening with games that are light on system resources

Avast Free (build 19.8.2393 with virus definitions version 191128-0)
Windows 10 home (64-bit, Version 1903, OS Build 18632.476)
Windows Defender is the only other virus protection running, and cannot be uninstalled or altered as it is built in to Windows 10
No prior antivirus/security software used on this computer (I tried Norton on my last computer and it made gaming a major chore)

Hi, see if it helps to run the game in DND mode.

Hello,

Thank you for reporting the issue.

Have you tried manually adding the game to the game mode list?
