Avast Online Security Extension - Weird Message
« on: December 21, 2019, 09:30:05 PM »
Hello there,

I have been using the official Avast Online Security Chrome Extension for as long as I can remember. Today the extension randomly disappeared from the top bar and under further investigation it was disabled by Google Chrome. This has suddenly happened on all of my devices, and when I asked a friend about it he claimed that the same thing happened to him today not long before I messaged him.

According to the Chrome Extension page, it violated the Chrome Web Store policy. I'm sure this is some kind of mistake. I have attached an image of exactly what I saw in the extension page.

Please note that I have manually re-enabled the extension, just wanted to post a thread as this seems really strange.

Many Thanks.

A couple of related topics already on this and firefox add-ons (which has been restored).  It seems like the pot calling the kettle black when google is the largest harvester of data going.

Dev-Info: All our Chrome extensions were recently taken down what caused that the extensions were automatically disabled on user side putting there the warning message in extension options in Chrome. This was recently resolved with Google and both extension (Avast SafePrice/AOS) are back in store. It takes some hours to get autoactivated again.

The extension was turned off so I manually turned it back on and within a fe minutes it was working again in Chrome.
