Sorry, but how can there be an average time for a full scan when there are some many permutations.

for instance:
When do you run it, e.g. what else is running as processing effort would be split ?
How much data is on that disk (and some may also be compressed), so it doesn't depend on the size of the disk ?
If you are running default settings are also a question if you change the defaults you increase the potential duration

For the first few scans (depending on settings) avast gathers data on what is scanned (which has an impact on duration), this can help with future scan duration.

I'm not trying to be evasive, but there really is no average when there are so many permutations.
Another fly in the ointment could be if you have any other security based software installed ?

So how long is your scan taking ?

- With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

You're welcome.

If you are running regular full scans, then any longer duration scans associated with the collection of scan information should be balanced out.  Personally, I feel that a daily scan is overkill (when you consider much of what it scans would be dormant), especially if it is taking a long time.

I just kicked off a Full Scan on my win10 system, spec in my signature below my posts.
Data:
SSD Drive C:  45.3GB (I don't keep stuff on there that isn't regularly in use) and still have 191GB of free space.
HDD Drive D: 58.9GB of data and 872GB of free space.

I make regular backups to a 3rd external 2TB HDD drive.

At this moment in time it is just coming to an end 92% which has now completed.
See attached image for stats.

   Good Day
I run full scans about every week or so in the evening when I'm done with the computer, the reason for my request was I had a couple errands to run that day, on my return scan still running about one hour and forty minutes, closed scan, not a big deal just curious

That is a long time even if your  500 GB hard drive was say 80% full.

As you can see from my image my scan took 9 minutes and scanned 147.8GB of data.  Even if you multiplied that by 3 it would be 27 minutes for something approaching the same size of your drive (500GB) 446.1GB.

You would have to look at your system specifications and compare with my win10 laptop (it is no slouch, but nothing special).
Have a look in the scan history and take a screen capture of the last scan that you ran and attach it here as I have.

Given the data scanned by my system is marginally more than yours, although the number of scanned files is much greater than yours.  I can only think that:
A.  Your system isn't as powerful as mine.
B.  Or you haven't got the scan settings optimized.

See my attached images for the settings of my full scan and see if they differ.

There is absolutely no comparison for what MBAM scans Vs Avast.
